Dmitry Zakunov — artist who works in the technique of chronophotography, which underlies frame by-frame observation method of an object. Longexposure shooting initiates the process of visual deformation and deconstruction of model figures on a snapshot. Photodynamic compositions are being formed and address to the state of sleep, hallucinations, subconscious images, reconstructing the reality according to the new patterns.
Dmitry was born in 1986, Nizhny Novgorod, Russia. He studied art and photography at the University of New Mexico (USA) in 2010. Dmitry was deeply inspired by Patrick Nagatani and Joel-Peter Witkin whose names are closely related to the University of New Mexico. His art is influenced by Anton Giulio Bragaglia’s photodynamic images, Lucien Freud and FrancisBacon’s paintings.
